A special moment last night at the season launch saw Mark Lathan and Darren Rockley receive their Life Membership badges.

Presented by fellow Life Member, Col Forster, Mark and Darren received a wonderful ovation from a packed auditorium.

Life Membership is a rare achievement at Weston with only 27 since 1907.

Darren Rockley summed it up perfectly by reflecting on the enormity of being awarded Life Membership - he highlighted the incredible contributions so many have and continue to make in creating a truly special club.

From everyone involved at the Bears, thank you and congratulations Darren (26) and Mark (27).

Today it was announced that our facility is set for an incredible transformation thanks to a $3 MILLION upgrade funded by the Albanese Government as part of their $80 million investment in community infrastructure projects across NSW! 🙌⚽

Here’s what’s coming:
✨ Refurbished grandstand for better spectator comfort and safety.
✨ A new clubroom, office, meeting room, changerooms and amenities.
✨ Upgraded canteen and storage facilities to better serve a busy facilty.
✨ Accessibility improvements, including amenities for people with disabilities and mobility impairments.
✨ A new car park with advanced drainage to resolve longstanding parking issues.

This major upgrade will not only enhance the experience for players, spectators, and visitors but will also create a vibrant hub for sports and community connection.

Special thanks to:

Dan Repacholi MP, Federal Member for Hunter, for championing this vital funding.
Cr Daniel Watton - Mayor of Cessnock, for leading the successful grant application.
The committee of the Weston Bears FC, for their hard work, vision and dedication to our club.

While we are sad to see Andre go, we are grateful for all his efforts during his time with us.

At the same time, we are thrilled to confirm the appointment of Kew Jaliens as Andre’s successor, effective immediately.

As a former professional player with a deep understanding of player development, Kew’s leadership will ensure our young players continue to grow and thrive.

The Kearsley United Soccer Club return to Rockwell Automation Park - home of the Bears - on May 10 2025 for their Old Koalas Day.

Congratulations to Ayden Lawrence from the Bears U16s who recently competed and, with his team, won the u15 National Futsal competition.
To top it all off he was also named in the U15 All Star Team such were his performances throughout the tournament.

“We wanted to do something the boys have never done before, have a chance to try and overcome obstacles they have never seen before and to be able to do it in a team environment where they were relying on each other to get through it and come out the other side stronger for it!

-Vale Stefan Kamasz-
The Weston Bears FC is deeply saddened by the passing of club legend and Australian football icon, Stefan Kamasz.

Stefan joined the Bears, with his brothers Stuart and David, in 1969 at the age of 19 after migrating from England. His time with Weston was marked by remarkable success, including three consecutive major and minor premierships in 1971, 1972, and 1973.
A talented player with a graceful left foot, Stefan’s contributions on the field remain etched in the history of our club.

After retiring from playing, Stefan transitioned into football administration, becoming one of the most influential figures in Australian football.
From leading Northern NSW Soccer Federation to managing the Socceroos and playing a pivotal role in the evolution of the National Soccer League and A-League, his dedication to the game was unmatched.
Stefan’s contribution to football was recognised in 2014 when he was inducted into the Football Australia Hall of Fame.

Even in recent years, Stefan remained connected to the Bears, occasionally attending games and supporting from the sidelines.

His legacy is one of excellence, passion, and tireless advocacy for the growth of football at all levels.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to Stefan’s family, friends, and the wider football community.
He will always be remembered at the Bears.
