NPL12

Travelling to Broadmeadow is always a good challenge and the Bears went there with points to prove and win.

The U19s, again, got the day off to super start with a fine 2-1 victory.

Another late goal was to sink the U22s in what was good performance.

1st grade still requiring points had plenty to play for but were dealt a body blow early on due to a sickening head clash between Zac Sneddon and Shane Paul. The resulting injuries would see Shane with a very nasty gash to the head and Zac removed from the field of play with what was later to be confirmed as a head fracture. We wish both players a speedy recovery.

Weston challenged well throughout the match striking the post in the first half and creating numerous other chances.
Shortly after the restart Magic, attacking into the Bears box, drew a foul and the resulting penalty found the net. Weston continued to search out a result and the 1st of 2 shouts for a penalty were denied for a handball on the line from a close range shot. The second denied claim was from a similar drive into the box for the successful Magic penalty but this one was waved away. Full time 1-0 to Magic.
While not the result the lads wanted or deserved it is really encouraging to see the young players involved and a strong performance.
