Edgeworth started the game on the front foot and dominated the possession in the opening 10 mins.

Nathan Morris sparked a great chance for the Bears when he played Jason Cowburn through in the 11th min. Cowburns shot rebounded to Mick Ryan who hit a cracking volley but unfortunately the shot sailed over the bar.

The game was now with the Bears and in the 14th min Cowburn was in the action again but his header narrowly missed the Eagles goal.

Much has been said about Robbie Turnbulls attacking prowess of late and in the 18th min Turnbull showed the reason why. Turnbull gained the ball in the centre of the park and made a strong run through the Eagles defence then let rip with a rocket of a shot from the edge of the box but like Ryan earlier Turnbull didn't get over his shot and it also flew over the bar.

Edgeworth has possibly the best attack in the League and in the 36th min they stretched the Bears defence. Luke Walker made a challenge that resulted in the referee pointing to the spot for a dot shot. Confidence was high in the stand that Bears keeper Pratt would make the save and he didn't disappoint when he made a brilliant save diving to his right.

The brilliant save obviously lifted the Bears players and Nathan Morris showed plenty of confidence by firing a scud from approx 40mts out that was easily saved by the Eagles keeper in the 39th min.

Last season Nathan Morris was responsible for many goals from his perfectly weighted free kicks and in the 41st min Morris once again played the Bears into the match with a pin point free kick from distance. The ball Morris played looked to be goal bound without assistance until the Bears in form striker Rhys Tippett did what all good strikers do and ensured the ball bulged the net to continue his great start to the season and give the Bears a well deserved 1-0 lead.

The games between the Bears and Eagles are always physical and this has been the case for many years. Players, officials and supporters all enjoy this fixture for this reason but in the 43rd min a moan went around the crowd from both Bears and Eagles supporters when Eagles player Corey Fletcher made one of the worst double chop tackles ever witnessed. Nathan Morris was the unlucky Bears player who was on the receiving end of the two footed challenge. Both sets of supporters looked on in disbelief when the referee unbelievable only handed Fletcher a yellow card instead of the red card. Morris thankfully for the Bears was able to continue the game after treatment.

Half time is something the Bears have to learn to deal with and it was a case of the all to common when in the 52nd min Edgeworth capitalised on some poor marking from the Bears defence and evened the score up at 1-1.

The pitch was getting increasingly greasier as the heavy night air was affecting both sides but it was Edgeworth who were dealing with the conditions the better. Edgeworth continued to pressure the Bears and they could well have extended the lead on many occasions but they also chose power over accuracy and fired all the chances harmlessly over the bar.

Several poor challenges by the Edgeworth side were going unpunished by the match official and several Bears players started to let their frustrations show when they were seeing their ball and all tackles being pulled up. This frustration resulted in a lack of discipline and the referee was left with no option other than to hand out yellow cards for descent.

Mick Ryan had the Bears best chance of the 2nd half when he should have gave the Bears the lead in the 78th min but the trend of the night continued and his shot fired high and wide.

The game seemed destined for a draw but Edgeworth saw things different and in the 93rd min the Eagles broke the hearts of the Bears with an injury time goal to take the game 1-2.

The U/23's continued their run of draws with a 1-1 result against a well drilled Eagles side.

U/18's suffered a 1-2 defeat.

Next Saturday night the Bears will be looking to kick start what has been a poor start to the season with a must win against the highly placed Valentine Phoenix at Thomas and Coffey Park.

With all 6 grades playing at home on Saturday it will be a great opportunity for every Bears supporter to get a glimpse at the Bears future stars with U/13's starting the day then culminating with 1st grade who kick off at 6pm.

C'MON YOU BEARS!!!!!!
