The game was barely 2 mins old when Rhys Tippett found the net for the Bears but to the disappointment of the travelling fans the Linesman had flagged for off side and the goal didn't count.

Both sides shared possession for the next 25 mins but neither keeper was tested.

Rhys Tippett and Jason Cowburn were looking dangerous for the Bears up front creating plenty of headaches for the Valentine defence. They both combined in the 28th min to give the Bears a 1-0 lead when Tippett headed back to Cowburn who drove his shot past the keeper.

The lead was short lived when Valentine hit back just 6 mins later. Robbie Turnbull appeared to be fouled in the middle of the park but instead of playing on the players got caught out protesting the no foul. Valentine then put the ball to the back post and found an unmarked player to level the scores at 1-1.

Valentine should have taken the lead in the 56th min when they wasted a free header only yards out of the Bears goal.

Mick Ryan was next to have an opportunity on goal in the 74th min. Robbie Turnbull fought hard to get out of a group of 3 defenders before playing a 1-2 with Tippett. Turnbull then fired a great ball to the back post for Ryan's head. Ryan's diving header found the keepers chest instead of the net.

Another marginal offside went against the Bears in the 78th min when Cowburn collected the ball just inside the Bears half, he then turned and held off 2 defenders before playing the ball through for Tippett who was away for a 1 on 1 with the Valentine keeper until the whistle stopped him.

Valentine got behind the Bears defence in the 81st min and looked certain to score until Sam Parkinson stood tall and kept the scores level.

The game was opening up and in the 83rd min Jason Cowburn cut the ball back for Nathan Morris, Morris hammered his low rocket shot from 20mts but the shot lacked direction and hit a young spectator instead of the target.

Once again a Bears player was caught out appealing for an off side instead of playing to the whistle and allowed the player through. Chris Cousins showed his experience and chased back to put the ball out for a corner. The mistake was compounded from the corner when the defence failed to clear the ball and Valentine scored to give them a 1-2 lead and the 3 points in the 90th min.

U/23's had yet another draw 0-0.

U/18's difficult season continued with a 1-5 loss, Joseph Jeffery found the net for the young Bears.

Next Sunday the Bears are back home at Thomas and Coffey Park against the big improvers of the State League in South Cardiff Gunners.

Gates open at 9:45am.
