With the season fast approaching we constantly must remind ourselves that excellence on the park is dependent on so many items such as:
• Hydration
• Nutrition
• Sleep
• Recovery
• Good communication
Among the many items coaches need to be aware of is post game communications. Club Youth TD Gerard Carey explains:
"During season 2018 you will observe youth coaches not giving teams detailed, post-match lectures.
Given the emotions of the day, and the significant amount of research around this subject, we will reserve
our assessments and evaluations until the first training session post game.
This allows the staff to remove a significant amount of possible or probable emotion from our communication.
We suggest that parents do the same so that, no matter the result there is not a great focus on perceived negatives immediately after the game."
For a player - and for any human being - there is nothing better than hearing ‘well done.’
'Those are the two best words ever invented in sports. You don’t need to use superlatives.
Sir Alex Ferguson

The Bears had their first pre-season hit out for 2018 when they took on Sydney side Spirit FC on Sunday.
In hot conditions at Rockwell Automation Park the U20s played in the morning with the 1st grade squads later in the afternoon.
The under 20s performed strongly with a pleasing performance netting 2 goals and creating numerous other opportunities.
The Bears 1sts fielded a number of new recruits including the return of Nathan Morris, Josh McGuire and Kew Jaliens. Working hard to execute their game plan and against a quality opposition the action swayed from end to end. Both teams hit the woodwork but it was Weston who took their chances from the 70th minute on, finding the net 3 times.
It was an excellent opportunity for both clubs to blow out the cobwebs, look at what needs to be worked on and get their seasons underway on a great deck.
The Bears have their first pre-season hit out for 2018 when they take on Sydney side Spirit FC this Sunday.
Spirit have recruited well for 2018 and bring a very talented squad to Rockwell Automation Park.
The Bears also have a number of new recruits including the return of Nathan Morris, Josh McGuire and Kew Jaliens. Combined with other new and returning players along with some trialists there is a good feeling for 2018 in the Bears camp.
Please Note!
Due to the forecast high temperatures there have been fixture changes. These are as follows:
U18s - CANCELED
U20s - 9:30am
1sts - 6:30pm
A restricted canteen will be in operation
- For the morning game drinks only will be available.
- The evening 1st grade game will have food and drinks available.
This is an excellent opportunity for both clubs to blow out the cobwebs and get their seasons underway on a great deck and, for 1st grade, in the cool evening twilight.
