FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT IS JDL?
The Junior Development League (JDL) is a key component of Football Australia’s National Curriculum.
The Program is designed to perfect and accelerate the skill development of identified players between the critical ages of 9 to 13. This is the age group universally acknowledged to be the optimal mental and physical phase in which children are able to learn motor skills.
It is based on World’s Best Practice and has been developed by internationally acclaimed Technical Coaches and the FA Technical Department.
The Weston Workers Bears Football Club will now play an important role in providing a best practice training environment and youth training plan, while also providing JDL Academy Carnivals for players to test their skills in a competitive environment.
WHAT IS THE AIM?
To provide the necessary technical ‘tools’ to players in order to help them be able to play the game at the highest possible level with a focus on functional game skills.
WHAT IS THE FOCUS?
The Program is designed to perfect and accelerate the skill development of identified players between the critical ages of 9 to 13 therefore the main focus is the weekly training sessions that will develop individual technical ability.
WHAT IS OUR COMMITMENT?
The Weston Workers Bears Football Club commits provide the best JDL platform and to proactively encourage identified players to transition to the Emerging Jets Program.
HUB/GALA DAYS?
Weekly games will be hosted at different hub grounds throughout the season. Weston will be submitting to become a 'Hub ground'.
JDL teams will participate in a minimum of one Regional SAP Gala Weekend per annum in a Regional Centre. The date and location will be determined by NNSWF on an annual basis.
JDL teams will also participate in an annual JDL Gala Weekend involving all licensed JDL clubs at the Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility.
FACILITY?
Weston's facility is maintained superbly and has excellent facilities for both players and spectators.
It is easily accessed from all areas of the Hunter Valley via the new Hunter Expressway.
HOW LONG DOES THE PROGRAM RUN FOR?
The thirty week (30) program, 2 training session per week, will commence when Government Schools resume after the annual Christmas Holidays and conclude in
mid-September annually.
COACHING?
The Weston Workers Bears Football Club JDL program is facilitated by Bears JDL TD Andre Gumprecht. Andre has superb knowledge of the JDL environment, brings great enthusiasm to the Bears coaching team and fuels an infectious appetite for young players learning football.
