Jamie commenced his 10 year playing stint at the Bears as a 12 yr old junior in 1995 before leaving the club and playing at Beresfield, Toronto Awaba and South Cardiff. In his time at the Bears Jamie played in Semi Final Series and the 2004 Grand Final. He also became a crowd favourite with supporters in the Bears Members Stand.
Jamie left the club with a reputation as a top goal scorer and his time away has only enhanced his reputation to the point where he returns as one of the leading Strikers in the State League.
Andrew joined the Bears in 2003 as a 17 year old and broke through for his top grade debut in 2005. He played in the 2005 and 2008 Semi Final Series and also took part in 2 Reserve grade grand Finals 2004 and the winning side of 2007. 2009 saw Andrews University studies take up a majority of his time and as a result he decided to play lower league football at Maitland FC where he had a successful season by winning the 1st Grade Grand Final. Like Jamie, Andrew also struck up a strong relationship with the Bears supporters due to his pace and determined style of play. Andrew feels he and Jamie’s return to the Bears will add plenty of positives to the side and will only enhance the game of players such as Robbie Turnbull.
As a club Weston Bears FC have been working extremely hard to promote and provide a pathway for talented junior players in the Hunter Valley and this policy is only enhanced by the signings of both Jamie and Andrew who both came through the Hunter Valley and Bears juniors systems.
The club wish both the players every success for the coming season.
C’MON YOU BEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
