Rob Macbeth, in recent weeks has been finding space at will and creating havoc for the opposition defences. Unfortunately his hard work isn't turning into goals with either the oppositions keeper pulling of great saves or his shot just missing the target by the smallest of margins. This was again the case when he had 2 fantastic chances in the 11th minute.

Macbeth was again in the play in the 13th min when his ball forward found Mick Holt who scored with a close range header to take the lead out to 2-0.

The Bears not only had a 2 goal lead but also control of the game and after 20 mins Mick Ryan almost added another when he got in behind the defence. With the defender chasing at his heels Ryan decided to check his run and shoot only to see his shot go wide of the mark.

Southy started to get back into the match with more possession and in the 28th min they found a way to get the ball past Bears keeper Tim Pratt. Chris Cousins showed his experience and read the play perfectly to get in behind Pratt and clear the ball of the line and keep the score at 2-0.

The Bears leading goal scorer Mick Ryan was forced from the field towards the end of the 1st half with an ankle injury, this gave Rhys Tippett an opportunity to play almost 3/4's of the game. Tippett didn't waste time stamping his mark on the match and he showed his class when he neatly placed the ball past the keeper in the 40th min to give the Bears a handy 3-0 lead.

After 65 mins a South Cardiff player left the referee no option other than to produce a straight red card for a shocking double chop tackle. Thankfully for the Bears the player who was on the end of the poor challenge was not injured badly and able to continue the match.

Tyson Fletcher almost extended the lead in the 73rd min when he was on the end of a move that was great to watch. Tippett started the play wide on the right before cutting back inside and drawing 3 defenders, he then played a great ball to Rob Macbeth who shaped to shoot before playing a perfectly weighted ball across to Fletcher who hit his shot well but failed to find the net.

Nathan Morris, in the previous 2 games has scored long range efforts and he almost made it 3 from as many games when in the 75th min he lined up a volley from over 35 mtrs out from goal. Morris took the ball on his chest and then hit the huge dipping volley which forced a fantastic save from the Southy keeper.

Macbeth looked to break his goal horrors 3 mins later but true to his luck the well timed shot across the keeper missed the far post by millimetres and went out for a goal kick.

Tyson Fletcher was the next to be denied by the Southy keeper in the 79th min when he hit a rocket of a shot that was heading for the far corner. The scored remained at 3-0 when the referee blew an end to the game.

U/23's failed to capitalise on their chances and lost a game they dominated from start to finish. The side had many chances and with a bit more composure in front of goal could well have won the game by 5 or 6 but Southy kept fighting and found the net late in the match to take the points 0-1.

U/18's scored a 3-2 win. Sam Turnbull had a great day out bagging a hat-trick.

Next Sunday the Bears travel to Edgeworth in a match that could go a long way to determining who will be Premiers come season's end. A win will also see the Bears winning trot go to 4 games and extend their unbeaten run to 6 games.
