Geordie

If you are wondering about the song Col spoke of in his interview...... Wonder no longer. Geordie Miners Had a Dream is a fantastic track laid down by none other than Tony (The King) Camps.

Just try to get this out of your head.....

NPL5

The Bears were back at Rockwell Automation Park for their round 5 NPL clash with Valentine Phoenix.

The U19s got the day flyer with a super 5-0 win.

Again, the U22s copped another late one to eventually go down 2-3.

First grade while still looking for their first win have been very good in all performances to date. This match was also going to be more of a challenge with Benn Kelly and Robbie Turnbull serving suspension.
With both sides searching for points the game was shaping up to be competitive and open. Chances were being created at both ends but it was Mick Ryan who almost opened the scoring with a deft lob over the advancing keeper that kissed the the underside of the bar and bounced back into the field of play. With the Bears 1st grade keeper out the deputising James Wand only lasted mid way through the half before sustaining an injury to his shoulder. James was replaced by 17 year old Jed Horder. Not long after it was Valentine's turn to test the woodwork with a shot cannoning off the crossbar but it was to stay 0-0 at oranges.

The second half saw Valentine start more spritely and they went ahead through a deflected header. From there the game ebbed and flowed until 5 from the end when another headed goal was conceded. Weston did pull one back from the spot but it was too little to late for the Bears this day.
