The Weston Workers Bears have progressed to the 2014 NPL grand final.
Taking on the Newcastle Jets Youth at Rockwell Automation Park the Bears had the worst possible start going behind in the first 2 minutes. Working their way back into the game that man, Connor Evans, drew the scores level with a fine shot from the edge of the box.
After half time Weston continued to press and had some clear opportunities but it was the Jets who found the net for a 2-1 lead. Weston were awarded a penalty but Nathan Morris's shot cannoned off the crossbar. With time running out Mick Ryan & Jye McKeller were introduced and it was the veteran Ryan who swung the game by bagging a brace and sending the Bears into the Grand Final.
A huge congratulations to the playing and coaching staff on this achievement - enjoy the build up!

U19s
The Bears U19s took on Hamilton Olympic in the elimination semi and unfortunately for the young Bears their season came to an end losing 4-2.
Hold your heads high lads - the best thing about football is there is always a next time.
Congratulations to the Weston Workers Bears U15 NPL squad on winning their grand final.
In a tight contest the Bears got up in a 1-0 win over Edgy thanks to a Regan Payne goal.
Well done to a super bunch of lads and to coach Gary Wand on the win...
Hail, Hail the bears are here...
Both 1st grade & U19s have progressed to the final stages of the semis with victories today.
1st Grade
First grade faced off against Lambtom and after a cagey opening period it was the Bears who began to dominate. In the 15th minute some excellent build up work saw Jye McKeller finish beautifully and give the Bears the lead. Weston continued to open Lambton up and it was that man, Connor Evans (left), who's pass unlocked the Jaffas defence to meet Jason Cowburns perfectly timed run. Jason then held his composure the deposit the ball into the onion bag.
Weston had other chances to put the game to bed in the first half but it stayed 2-0 at, as Del Piero would say, oranges.
The second half was to turn into a thriller as Weston not long after the break took what looked a winning lead from a Garry McDermott goal. But the jaffas did find the net and that just filled their sails as not long after they brought it back to 3-2. Lambton really chased the game game and put the Bears under a lot of pressure towards the end. Weston however held on the progress to the major semi final.
First grade are at home again next week and get another crack at the Jets youth in what will be a stormer of a game.
U19s
The U19s kicked off at 5:30pm at Lisle Carr Oval and had a super 3-1 victory. Goals came from Lachlan Doyle a brace & Bradley Millar.
The 19s take on Hamilton next week.

Congratulations to the U15s for making the grand final.
Taking on Far Mid North Coast (FMNC) the scores were locked at 0-0 for, as Del Piero would say, oranges.
The second half however saw Weston run out 3-1 winners and book their place in the grand final.
Goal scorers today were - James Thompson a brace & Zac Skippen.
Well done lads!
Also a huge shout out to the volunteers today - you were magnificent and the Club is hugely appreciative of your assistance.
