The Weston Workers Bears are delighted to announce that former Dutch International and Newcastle Jets Captain Kew Jaliens will join the Bears Coaching staff in 2016.
Jaliens whose senior career spanned in excess of 450 games in The Netherlands, Poland and Australia's A-League along with 15 games for The Netherlands National side will come on board in a Technical role and will oversee junior development as well as participate with the senior squad.
Jaliens will also kick off a high performance junior academy with the Bears which will provide junior football talent in the lower and upper Hunter Valley a fantastic opportunity to develop their skills under a great player. The Jaliens led clinic will provide not only on field skills but the important off field technical and social development required. Following an extensive investment during the off season The Bears will provide the facilities, equipment and training fields for Kew's academy.
Further details will be available shortly via the Bears website.
Jaliens will also run his academy in Newcastle.
The rejuvenation of the main training field is coming along brilliantly. This photo taken before the New Year shows a very healthy coverage and the weather over the past few weeks has seen a real growth spurt.
The Club would like to acknowledge the assistance of Cessnock City Council's Dollar4Dollar Scheme for enabling such an undertaking.
We'll continue to update with all the ground works current and new over the next few weeks.
C'mon you Bears!!!

Super news for Bears Youth goalkeeper Jay Sneddon.
Also a talented cricketer, Jay's hard work was rewarded with a call up to the Cardiff Boolaroo 1st grade team to play in a T20 game against Newcastle City played at Number 1 Sports Ground.
Congratulations from all of us at the Bears mate.
