The second have was a different story with Weston right back in it and beginning to get over the top of their opponents. This was rewarded when Robbie Turnbull slotted home for the Bears and reviving the home side. Weston continued to lift but a sweeping move from Broadmeadow found the net at the most inopportune time taking the wind right out of Weston's sails. On a very heavy pitch, in what is always a hotly contested competition, Weston were forced into an early change with Jamie Subat needing to be replaced after only 3 minutes. It was the big spending Eagles who drew first blood only to see Robbie Turnbull equalise with a fantastic strike after cutting inside and pulling the trigger. Joel Hardwick (right) then let loose from downtown with a cracking shot that was too hot for the Edgy keeper and saw the Bears take a 2-1 lead to the sheds.
The second half saw Edgeworth step it up and press for an equaliser that eventually came. 2-2 is how the game ended with the Bears defence putting in a big shift late on. However, both sides will be ruing missed opportunities.
The U23s went close but eventually went down 3-2.
Weston's U19s got back on track with a fine 4-0 win.
The U17s up and down season continued with a 3-2 loss.
