media release

The Weston Workers Bears Football Club and Steve Piggott are pleased to advise they have agreed to terms for Steve to return to the Bears as Senior and First Grade Coach.

With significant changes to the structure of the competition from 2017 the Bears believe Steve can bring the professionalism necessary to be successful in the revamped competition and working with our Technical Director, Kew Jaliens, continue to grow our very successful junior development program.

NPL15

Weston welcomed the Charlestown Blues to Rockwell Automation Park for their round 15 NPL clash.

The U19s continued their super form with a fine 3-0 victory and head into the business end of the season buzzing.

Our U22s after creating enough chances to have had 3 or 4 had to be content with a 1-1 draw in what was another good performance.

First grade coming of the back of a draw with Valentine were looking to turn their fortunes around. A bright opening saw chances created but it was the Blues who scored first. Shortly after, a defensive lapse provided another to Charlestown and Weston needing to chase again. Joel Barner did well to get on the end of a cross ball to pull it back to 1-2 and that's how it went to the sheds.
However it was the Blues again after the break to take it to 1-3 and really close out the game. A nice piece of lead up and delivery with a Mark Hateley like header (look that one up you young uns) by Joel Barner saw him grab his brace for the game and saw it finish 2-3.

YOUTH

The Bears youth were back home this Saturday and took on the emerging Jets at Rockwell Automation Park.

In chilly, windy, conditions football can be hard to play. However, to the lads credit and working continually to high standards, their efforts against the Jets were super and what we and most importantly they are coming to expect.

To everyone, well done and keep up the great work.

C'mon you Bears!!!
