On a perfect day for football on one of the few grounds in the region that can cope with the recent rain the Bears welcomed Broadmeadow.
The U17s got the day off to a great start with a 5-2 victory.
Our U19s had the previous result turned on them going down 1-5.
Going to the sheds 1-1 at half time the U23s were still in it but eventually went down 1-2.
First grade after a hard fought win against Olympic last week faced the tough task of Broadmeadow.
Early in the game Weston saw a penalty decision go against them but Peter Haynes spot shot was saved by Bears custodian Tim Pratt. Jason Cowburn then had his chance to give the Bears the lead but it was Rob Macbeth in the 40th minute who bulged the net for the Bears and take a 1-0 lead to the sheds at half time.
Jason Cowburn did find the the net however in the 50th minute and it was looking good for the Bears. Peter Haynes then popped up again in the 80th minute, pegging one back and making amends for his previous miss. The last 10 minutes was certainly squeaky bum time and Tim Pratt made another fine save to help hold the lead.
But in the end it was the Bears who prevailed 2-1, taking maximum points and remain undefeated.
Well done to everyone and...
C'mon you Bears!!!
The young Bears U15s also saw action over the weekend.
Taking on Valentine Weston eventually went down 2-0.
Next time boys and remember...
C'mon you Bears!!!
