The Bears travelled to Broadmeadow Magic's Wanderers Oval to take on the State League Leaders. Wanderers Oval has been a place that the Bears have enjoyed very little success over the years and this game was no different as the Bears put in another subpar performance going down 0-4.
Things looked positive early for the Bears when Robbie Turnbull played a fantastic ball in behind the Magic's defence for Jamie Subat who with only the keeper to beat, chose to fire his shot early towards the near post which was saved by the keeper.
Magic made the Bears pay for their earlier miss when they scored a controversial goal in the 14th minute to take the lead. Poor marking from the Bears defence lead to Magic compounding the pain in the 20th minute when they again found the net to take their lead out to 0-2.
Jamie Subat almost made amends for his earlier miss when he floated a fantastic ball across the face of goal for Corey Fletcher who only needed the smallest of touches to score but unfortunately for the Bears the ball eluded his outstretched leg and another chance went begging in the 37th minute. Magic once again showed the Bears attackers how things should be done when they put their 3rd goal past Tim Pratt 5 minutes later.
Magic continued to dominate the Bears on the wet pitch and in the 70th minute they pushed the score out to the horrid 0-4 when they were awarded a penalty which they hammered into the net. The Bears failed to put one past the Magic keeper before the final whistle and the poor run continued.
U/23's also suffered a 0-4 loss but the U/19's are continuing to be the only senior side showing any form with another win to sit in 2nd spot with a strong 2-0 win over the competition leaders. B Henery and T Gleeson the scorers.
Next Sunday the Bears are back at Thomas & Coffey Park for the last regular home game of the season against Valentine Phoenix. Due to results of other games being favourable, the Bears still have a mathematical chance to make the Semi Finals so a win is a must against Phoenix. 1st grade kick off at 2:30 with the U/23's at 12:45 and U/19's at 11:00.
