The Bears travelled to West Wallsend looking to get their season back on track against the last placed Blue Bells. Although Westy are entrench at the bottom of the table they out played the disappointing Bears who turned in one of their worst performances in the past few seasons to go down 1-2.

A defensive error cost the Bears in the 31st minute which lead to a Westy attacker chipping Bears keeper Tim Pratt to give them the lead 0-1. The Bears could well have found themselves further down on the scoreboard at the half time break if not for poor West Wallsend finishing.

After the poor first half it was hoped that the Bears would lift after the restart but things went from bad to worse when Westy extended their lead in the 81st minute. Mick Ryan forced a fantastic save from the Westy keeper late in the game before Jamie Subat went one better and did find the net with only 2 minutes remaining but it was too little too late and the Bears failed to take away what should have been an easy 3 points.

U/23's suffered the same fate as first grade going down 1-2 in a fiery match and the U/19's also threw away 3 points going down 0-1 to the last placed Westy.

Next Sunday the Bears will need to show plenty of improvement when they face the runaway leaders Broadmeadow Magic at Wanderers Oval or risk seeing what was a great start to the season spiral into missing a semi final spot.
