The Junior Bears continued their season with 2 draws and 2 losses.
U/13's went down 0-4 to Valentine
This score line is not indicative of how well the team played this match but it does prove that some things are working and some things are still ‘a work in progress’. As a developing squad of young players, there is real improvement in this team. With direction from the coach, and the right attitude and commitment from the players
Don’t forget ‘we are all in this together’!
U/14's had to settle for a 2-2 draw with Warners Bay, Jayden Hinds and Matt Reece the scorers.
U/15's also had a 2-2 draw with Valentine, Sam Richardson bagged a brace for the Bears.

The Bears were back home at Thomas & Coffey Park against West Wallsend and looking to bounce back after the previous round loss to South Cardiff. The task was made a little easier after the Friday night match against Broadmeadow Magic was once again re-scheduled due to the rain affected pitch being deemed unplayable.
The first half of the match was a very even fought contest and both goal keepers ensured that the sides were locked at 0-0 at the break with some crucial saves from the few real chances on offer.
West Wallsend came out of the sheds for the 2nd half firing and if not for Bears keeper Tim Pratt they could have well taken the lead several times in the first few minutes after the restart. The Bears slowed West Wallsend's momentum in the best way in the 61st min when Jamie Subat got in behind the defence and slotted past the advancing keeper to give the Bears the lead.
Tim Pratt was having a fantastic game and he continued his great form with a great penalty save after West Wallsend were awarded a spot shot in the 66th min. With the Subat goal and Pratt's save in a 5 minute period, it was no surprise to see the game turn with the Bears starting to hit their straps and have the better of the game and chances.
Jamie Subat was causing big headaches for the West Wallsend defence and in the 86th min he once again broke in behind the defence and forced a fine 1 on 1 rebounded save from the West Wallsend keeper, but luckily for the Bears the rebound fell to Matt Toohey who had the simplest of tap ins to give the Bears a strong 2-0 lead. Subat again found himself with just the keeper to beat in stoppage time. This time he chipped the advancing keeper to secure his brace and give the Bears a 3-0 victory over their nearest rivals.
The lower grades failed to get the same positive result as first grade with the U/23's now entrenched at the foot of the table going down in a high scoring match 3-5 while the Youth Teams season that promised so much has taken a downward slide with a shock loss to the previously winless West Wallsend 0-3.
Next Weekend the Bears are away in a vital clash with Lake Macquarie. The first round 1-1 draw between the 2 sides was one of the best seen at Thomas and Coffey Park for many years and with both sides well in the hunt for top spot in the State League Ladder, it's expected that this round will be just as entertaining. A win would give the 2nd placed Bears a 5 point buffer over the 4th place Lakes.
