SEN LTIn perfect conditions Weston welcomed Charlestown to Rockwell Automation Park for their round 15 Clash.

The Under 19s looking to bounce back after last weeks shock loss were dealt another tough day out going down 1-3.

The 22s also looking to return to the winning circle were on the wrong end of a 2-0 scoreline.

First grade, after last weeks derby draw, needed to win if their semi final chances were to firm. Early opportunities to the Blues were dealt with well and it was Liam Thornton, on the end of a well placed chip from Robbie Turnbull, who headed in for the Bears. This was enough for Weston to see the game out and move to 3rd on the ladder with 3 rounds to go.

SENIORS

Weston hosted Maitland at Rockwell Automation Park for their round 14 NPL match.

The

U19s who have been super all year picked the local derby to let their guard down and were duly punished. A late goal wasn't enough to claw back a 2 goal buffer for Maitland eventually going down 1-2.

The U22s were chasing their game after going behind despite having the majority of possession. They were eventually rewarded with an equaliser and did have their chances to seal the win but just couldn't convert.

First grade were looking to follow on from a fine performance against the Jets but against a fired up Maitland team looking for points it was always going to be tough.

The first half was fairly even with both sides settling quickly. Maitland had some sustained pressure in the Bears half via a succession of corner kicks that were dealt with quite comfortably.
There was a flashpoint in the 20th minute as a Maitland layer saw red for lashing out but the state of play didn't really change up to half time.

The second half began as the as the first and it was the injection of Zac Sneddon early on that started to swing the game for Weston. The extra man and the introduction of jamie Subat started to exploit more space as the game progressed and the Bears began to turn the screw. Maitland however were dangerous on the counter and had a number of chances themselves. Another incident late on saw Zac Sneddon sent off restoring even numbers. A flurry of free kicks and especially 2 gilt edged chances for Weston in the final minutes just could not be converted and both teams had to settle for a share of the points.
