A big congratulations to Darren Rockley, of Bears Major Sponsor ANDROCK Engineering. Over the weekend his Cessnock Womens all age team took on Mayfield in their grand final and came away with the prize in a 2-0 victory.
Well done everyone - Enjoy!
It was an eventful weekend for Bears teams across the grades this weekend.
SATURDAY:
First up were the U14s. The premiers took on Hamilton and had a super 4-0 win that fired them straight into the grand final. Bulging the net for Weston were Kurt Nightingale, Jake Brownlow and a brace to Brayden Mortimer. Well done boys - time to rest and prepare.
U16s were next up and faced Charlestown. Unfortunately for the young Bears they went down 2-0 that brought their season to an end. Keep your heads up lads, you took it all the way to the business end of the season.
First grade after the heroics of previous weeks went into their elimination semi final against Olympic with nothing to lose. In a first half that saw both sides have their chances but fail to convert the game was locked 0-0 at half time.
Unfortunately for the Bears the second half got away from them and even when a Nathan Morris penalty got them back in the game at 2-1 they eventually went down 3-1 and out of season 2013.
This years effort was memorable for the guts shown by a squad of players that would not give up. They had their great escapes, battled with 10 men, injuries and suspensions while blooding a number of young players who not only took their chances but made their marks - well done to everyone.
SUNDAY:
The premiership winning U17s took on Edgy for a place in the grand final and in continuing with their highly impressive season won 2-0 and secured their pace in the season showpiece.
Netting for the Bears were Caine Robinson & Lachlan Nicol. Great effort this season fellas - enjoy the build up.
Congratulations to everyone involved this weekend. Win or lose, getting to this stage of the season is a super effort.
To the U17s and U14s enjoy the build up and the experience. To all your club mates lets look to get behind these 2 teams and get them home and...
C'mon you Bears!!!
